TAG: Together And Growing!
Time for the 2011-2011 TAG Program to get underway! Chorus directors and presidents/team leaders have been sent information about requesting a chorus TAG visit! Get your request in by December 21, 2012. High points of the program are listed below. If you would like to look at at TAG Program packet, click here for a Word document or here for a PDF.
What is the TAG Program? TAG stands for Together And Growing. It is an up-to-date and innovative education program designed to strengthen and inspire choruses as a whole and individually!
TAG is an opportunity for choruses to bring in a team of our talented Region 13 faculty members to provide education in areas such as vocal production, showmanship, chorus operations, membership growth and retention, PVIs, music team training, marketing, show production and more. TAG runs every other year, partnering with Area Schools on the alternate year.
When Can I Schedule a TAG visit? You may schedule a visit between September 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012.
Does our TAG visit have to be on a weekend? No. You may schedule a TAG visit for a regular rehearsal night if that works out better for your chorus.
Can I choose who comes to my chorus? The Regional Education Director and the TAG Program Coordinator will make faculty assignments. They will carefully consider the input and requirements of the requesting chorus and match the chorus with faculty members best suited to their needs.
So exactly what topics are offered? Your TAG visit will be individually tailored to meet the needs of your chorus and may encompass several topics. Let us know what you want. We have an experienced faculty who are happy to work with you to provide the education you desire. TAG visits are flexible – you can schedule a visit for your entire chorus, or for just a part of the chorus. We can provide training for your Management Team, Music Staff, Choreography Team, Section Leaders, Membership Committee, Show Committee etc. Use the TAG Visit Idea Sheet include in the TAG Packet as a tool to brainstorm ideas with your chorus.

Can I use my TAG visit for a coaching session? The focus of the TAG Program is considerably broader than “coaching only.” However, if your chapter feels they would benefit most from a straight-forward coaching session, you can combine your visit with another chorus and schedule a joint coaching session. Each chorus will be coached and will also have the opportunity to observe the coaching session of the other chorus.
Will it cost the chorus anything? The Region will fund transportation and materials costs. Choruses are expected to cover faculty housing and meals.
What if I have more questions about TAG? The TAG Program Coordinator is Sue Middleton. You can contact her at suemiddleton@gmail.com or 253.874.2733.
