2026 Convention - Dual Members

What to Expect and How to Prepare

If you sing with more than one chorus or quartet, please note that Sweet Adelines International only schedules around directors, ensuring they have time between ensembles they direct and those they sing with. SAI does not schedule around dual singers, so your performance times may be far apart—or back‑to‑back.

To keep your contest day smooth and stress‑free, review the tips below.

Quick‑Change Logistics

  • Backstage changing rooms are available for singers who must switch costumes between immediately consecutive performances. You may have one 'helper' accompany you through the pattern the first time through.

  • If you have several performers between your groups, you may have time to return to your hotel room or use a convention‑center restroom to change.

  • Singers not performing next must exit the backstage area.

Tips for a Smooth Day

  • There are about four minutes between performers—practice fast costume changes and hair‑friendly strategies.

  • Bring all costume pieces for your second (or third!) ensemble in a clearly labeled bag through the traffic pattern. Use the dual‑member changing room coat rack and floor space to store your costume(s) between performances.

  • Confirm exactly what each group is wearing. Can any items overlap—pants, makeup, lipstick?

For Chorus Members

  • Remind both directors that you must exit first after your initial performance and may be the last one onstage for the next.

  • Choose one or two helpers from your first chorus to gather and remove every piece of your first costume—shoes, hosiery, jewelry, makeup, hangers, garment bag, etc.

Good luck—we love our dual members!
