Plans continue for our 2023 LIVE Convention May 18-21, in Spokane's First Interstate Center for the Arts (FICA). Housing will only be at the DoubleTree Hotel and we have met our hotel obligations. We have listed nearby hotels on the website for those of you who still need to make your reservations.
The official website for "all things competition" can be found at r13convention.org, which is updated as new information comes in. Other questions can be sent to the various members of the Convention Team or at [email protected]:
THEY’RE BACK! After the smashing success of last year’s events, North by Northwest Region 13 is happy to announce the return of PVIs under Glass for our members, with four exciting classes starting February 4 at 9:30am (Pacific time). These PVIs (Personal Vocal Instructions) will be conducted over Zoom. Each workshop will be limited to approximately 25 attendees including two or three people who will be given a PVI while the others observe (there is always something to be learned from observation!). Volunteers to receive a PVI will be selected on a first come, first serve basis. All parts can attend any class, but only the specific class/part will be selected for the PVI recipient. These classes are priceless in value and are NO COST FOR REGION 13 MEMBERS. For more information and to sign up for your PVI, click here.
The Region 13 2022 Virtual Convention weekend is over, but wasn't it wonderful to sing together again?!? Congratulations to PrimeTime Quartet for winning the Quartet Competition, and to Alaska Sound Celebration for coming in first in our Chorus Competition.
Competition links are available here, so if you missed something--or just want to watch again--you can. (And it's not too early to mark your calendars for the 2023 Region 13 Convention, scheduled for May 18-21, in Spokane, WA!)

As cities, states, regions, and countries are moving toward fewer/no restrictions related to COVID-19, many of our region’s choruses and quartets are returning to in-person rehearsals and performances. It is important to remember that choral singing is still considered a high-risk activity, although as more members become vaccinated, the risk decreases. The safety and good health of our members remains a top priority for Region 13 and Sweet Adelines International. We urge each chorus and quartet to be knowledgeable regarding state and local guidelines for in-person gatherings. These include the size of gatherings allowed, whether meetings are indoors/outdoors, if masks are required for all participants, if vaccinated participants do not have to wear a mask, physical distancing, ventilation and any other precautions required. Be prepared to put mitigation practices in place to avoid risk and protect your members. You may feel more comfortable if your members sign a waiver and release of liability prior to returning to in-person singing. The first link below will take you to a sample agreement provided by Sweet Adelines International.
